    USU Paper & Clay Regional Juried Exhibition

    The Department of Art + Design in conjunction with the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University is sponsoring a regional juried exhibition for current BFA & MFA students. This years exhibition will focus on ceramics and printmaking. Work must have been completed in the past two years.

    Israel “Izzy” Davis is an artist, educator, musician, BMX biker, and skateboarding enthusiast who lives and works in Grand Rapids, MI. After a decade of teaching at the university level he is currently focusing on his personal creative practice and has been working to produce a new body of work that utilizes ceramics, digital fabrication technologies, and mixed media. Upon receiving a series of private grants to purchase equipment and take technical courses in 3-D modeling and CNC fabrication, Davis has been busy setting up a small fab lab at his studio, Fundamental Formative Arts LLC (FUNFA). The FabLab at FUNFA currently boasts an Epilog laser etcher/cutter, a ShopBot CNC router, and a Ricoh ceramic toner laser printer.

     

    Eligible States:

    Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Montana, Idaho

    Now including Washington, Oregon and California

     

    Submissions:  Up to 3 works represented by up to 6 images. Maximum size for 2D work: 72” high and 60” wide. Maximum size for 3D work: 36” in any direction and up to 50lbs max. All 2D artwork should be framed and ready to hang.

     

    Accepted Works:

    Shipping to and from the exhibition will be the responsibility of the artist.

     

    Printmakers:

    All fine art printmaking mediums, including relief, intaglio, lithography, silkscreen, monotype, and letterpress will be accepted. Prints must be hand-pulled.

     

    *Digital media, drawings, photographs, or direct reproductions are NOT eligible. Only two-dimensional works will be accepted.

     

    Ceramicists:

    All clay submissions must be at least 75% ceramic.

     

    Entry Fee: $10

     

    Awards:

    $500 Best of Show

    $300 2nd Place

    $200 3rd Place

     

    Important Dates:

    • June 6 - online application opens
    • October 1 - online submission ends
    • October 6 - notification of acceptance (via email)
    • October 20- Deadline for arrival of accepted artwork (must include a pre-paid return shipping label)
    • October 30- exhibition opens
    • Reception, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Awards Announced at 6:00 p.m.
    • November 30- exhibition ends
