Carsten Meier is a German-born photographer known for his large-format renderings of urban and natural landscapes. His work has been exhibited in the United States and Europe and published in his monograph, Public Parking. Meier came to the States on a Fulbright and returned to Ohio University to earn his MFA. He began his teaching career at the Volkshochschule Dortmund and was an Assistant Professor at the University of Miami before joining the USU Department of Art + Design at Utah State University in 2011. Since his arrival, Meier has led two study-abroad programs and mentored five Undergraduate Research and Creative Opportunities grant recipients. His students have received national and international recognition, including a finalist in the Photographer’sFORUM2015 annual college contest. He actively collaborates with the Quinney College of Natural Resources and is part of a team that was awarded a 2014 National Geographic grant. His current project, Dams, is due for international publication in fall 2015.
