You are here: Assessment » Data-Based Decisions
The Department of Art will closely follow the rubric for annual assessment. In addition to this paradigm, additional factors will be considered:
1. The Art Department has added a theoretical component to the program: it offers a Graduate and senior level course in Art Criticism and Theory.
2. The Art Department will keep applicant images of those who are awarded scholarship and compare that the student’s senior year BFA exhibition in order to document improvement.
3. The Art Department will conduct exit evaluations in 2009-10. Random students will be called for an interview with the Department Head and Dean. The same set of questions will be designed for all students.
4. The National Association of Schools of Art & Design is the accrediting agency for the Art Department. Closely following those guidelines will assist the department in making appropriate changes.
5. The website for the department will debut a new face in September 2009. Alumni news and networking will assist the department in gaining new facts about the alumni students.
6. Developing the latest ideas in studio and research may be supplemented among sister or peer institutions:
University of California-Davis
Colorado State University
Iowa State University
New Mexico State University-Main Campus
North Carolina State University at Raleigh
Oregon State University
Pennsylvania State University-Main Campus
Texas A & M University
Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University
Washington State University

Note 1: The completion rate data suggest that the numbers in all the tables in this appendix should be interpreted in terms of the proportions in each category, rather than the actual number of students engaged in the activity.
Note 2: College totals are not provided because the sampling procedure used for departments with more than 50 graduates makes it inappropriate to sum the numbers for the individual units in the college.
