Professor Raymond Veon conducts a student critique in the Drawing I class.
Drawing from life
The figure drawing class uses a variety of different models so students gain skills in rendering the human form.
Student artwork is part of required documentation to maintain the department's accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Art & Design
Students in the Drawing I class leave their work behind for grading
The drawing & painting emphasis area at USU promotes experimentation with a variety
of materials and methods. Each student is encouraged to develop a portfolio that reflects
his or her own conceptual interests. Our rigorous program rewards students for hard
work and encourages them to grow artistically. Students studying painting and drawing
also have the opportunity to participate in a study abroad experience based in Essen,
Germany. During this summer program students receive the same training that was offered
at the renowned German Bauhaus School.
